American Dreams

The topic for this paper and blog will be "The Death of the American Dream."  This topic and ideas which may affect my own generation has always been extremely interesting to me.  Topics which relate to my current life, and what is happening around me is so quickly correlated to things that happen on a day to day basis.  To some the American dream is defined as the basis of the dream which surrounds the need for a stable system of jobs, economy, families that are for life, and a government who allows people to live without drowning them in taxes or cracking down over every little thing.  Today, none of these things exist, which once allowed every citizen of the United States to freely attempt to reach the American Dream.  The country is attempting to work out of a recession, the jobs are not there and neither is the money.  Along with the monetary portion, the idea of marrying early while never divorcing, or having kids immediately is today a joke; people do not need to jump into things as they used to.  Finally, our government is in a hole and the population seems to be their only way out of these mistakes through taxation and heavy regulations of the people.  Overall, the American Dream should have died well before this, and personally I'm glad it did; it didn't suit us well as a nation these days anyways.  With the death of the dream, I have hopes that a new, more realistic dream for this generation will come around.  Because even if this one dream dies, people will not stop dreaming of better things.
